Our history

Christian Backer from the town of Flisa is the originator of the revolutionary Backer process. As a result of this process, the world received a new heating solution that was easy to adapt to the different needs of both households and industry – the so-called Backer element.

The basic and unique idea was named the Backer process. The basic patent dates from 1921 and has been continuously supplemented and refined with a number of follow-up patents. Christian Backer’s goal was to develop a product that could be used as a heating element in an electric hotplate. His idea was that the electric hob should become an alternative to the gas and wood stove.

History shows that the heating element could be used for much more than just the electric hob, and Norske Backer has specialized in this.
